VANCOUVER CHAMBER PLAYERS REDISCOVERED TREASURES OF CHAMBER MUSIC
Tuesday, September 28 at 10:30 to 11:30 am (doors open at 10:00 am, complimentary coffee and cookies)

For the first concert of their 2010-2011 seven concert season at Hycroft, the Vancouver Chamber Players will perform Piano Trios with Clarinet and Cello by Carl Fruehling (1868-1937) and Nino Rota (1911-1979). Carl Fruehling was a little known Austrian composer of very beautiful late romantic music, with only two of his compositions rediscovered: a piano quintet and the superb Piano Trio Op. 40, performed to great acclaim at Hycroft in the violin cello version and will now to be presented in the equally ravishing clarinet cello version. Italian com-poser Nino Rota is world famous for his magnificent movie scores to the Fellini films, in particular La Strada, and of course all the Godfather films. His chamber music compositions are equally astounding for their beauty and bittersweet wit which his Piano Trio amply proves.
