For the fifth concert of their series at Hycroft, the Vancouver Chamber Players present the Piano Quartet in A Major, opus 26 by Johannes Brahms. A frequently neglected work, it is a lyrical quartet laid out on a broad, almost symphonic scale. The ‘heavenly length’ and extended melodic ideas testify to Brahms’s appreciation of the music of Schubert.

Violinist Jennie Press, violist Katrina Chitty, and pianist Lixia Li join cellist Lee Duckles in a stirring performance of this beautiful work.
