Brahms wrote his Horn Trio in E-flat major after the death of his mother, pairing the horn’s warm, hunting-call sound with violin and piano in a work that moves from tender lyricism to a joyous, galloping finale. Hycroft’s intimate, historic setting is the perfect place to hear this rare and beautiful combination of instruments up close — come experience one of the great chamber works of the 19th century in one of Vancouver’s most atmospheric rooms.
